POCO-POCO

One of the activities during the Indonesian evening organised by ISOW last Saturday, 8 December, was the poco-poco dance.

A popular line dance originating from Sulawesi, the steps are said to be based on farming activities such as picking cloves, planting rice, hoeing the fields and peeling coconut fibre. The poco-poco dance became popular a few years ago and has been integrated into aerobics classes and dance lessons throughout Indonesia. At the ISOW evening it got everyone moving on the dance floor. / Sara van Otterloo
